Early on the sunny Saturday morning of Oct. 25, Peoples Gas team members – joined by their families and friends – participated in a Panama City Beach walk to raise awareness for breast cancer.

For Work Coordinator Coreatha Garner, who pulled the group together for the event, the effort came naturally. In fact, since she’s getting used to orchestrating this kind of thing to benefit the community.

In June, Garner organized a bake sale at the Peoples Gas office in Panama City that raised $500 for breast cancer research. The walk was the next step, so to speak, in that effort. It’s one of many Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events from the American Cancer Society.

“The cancer walk was another way for us to show support for the cause,” Garner said. “I feel it’s encouraging for everyone involved.”

Division Manager Mike McGuire agreed.

“Recently people in our office have had to deal with cancer in their families,” McGuire said. “Events like this are a great way to be there for our fellow team members.”
