For proof that TECO cares about America’s veterans, talk to Vu Brown.
Brown is a Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas customer in Wesley Chapel, Fla. On Dec. 4, the disabled U.S. Army veteran received a visit at his home from TECO team members and employees of Cross Country Home Services (CCHS). They brought gifts in the form of energy-efficient appliances – including a natural gas tankless water heater from Peoples Gas.
The effort was the latest realization of the Operation Appliance Aid program from CCHS to improve the lives of veterans in need across the United States. CCHS provides warranty and home service plans to more than 10,000 residential Peoples Gas customers.
“I can’t ask for a bigger gift than this – my family couldn’t believe it,” said Brown, who served in Operation Desert Storm with his father and whose son currently is in the Air Force. “To get a natural gas tankless water heater from TECO Peoples Gas is an amazing feeling.”
In addition to donating the tankless water heater, Peoples Gas also coordinated the installation of a new refrigerator and natural gas range from CCHS for Brown and his family. All of the upgraded energy-efficient appliances can help the family save on annual energy costs.
Jackie Perrone, marketing analyst with TECO Partners, worked with CCHS and a national veterans’ association to coordinate the selection of Brown for Operation Appliance Aid based on specific criteria.
“Out of everything I did this year, working with Vu and his family might just be the most rewarding,” Perrone said.
