The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Panama City started early on the morning of Oct. 31 with 20 Peoples Gas representatives participating in the American Cancer Society event.

Coreatha Garner, work coordinator, organized the Peoples Gas group of team members, family and friends. “I feel very proud of the team,” said division manager Mike McGuire, “but especially of Coreatha for setting this up and getting us all out there to support cancer awareness and research.”

The funds raised from the many Making Strides Walks across the nation during October go toward ground-breaking research, comprehensive support and early detection and prevention provided through the American Cancer Society. Donations are used to:

  • Invest in breast cancer research to help understand, prevent, find, and treat the disease,
  • Provide access to free information, answers, and comfort, around the clock, and
  • Help people take steps to reduce breast cancer risk or find it when it is most treatable.
