Now they’re cooking with gas – or they will be soon in Green Cove Springs, Fla., when Peoples Gas and SeaCoast Gas Transmission complete 23 miles of new natural gas pipeline for the Clay County community and nearby areas.
A groundbreaking ceremony on June 29 marked the project, which is already underway. Service to some larger commercial customers will be available later this year, with service to smaller commercial and residential customers to follow.
What it means for Clay County is new opportunities for economic development, with natural gas as part of the foundation, literally, for new and existing businesses – which can mean new jobs. In addition to being smart economically, natural gas is great for anyone who wants to reduce their carbon footprint. What’s more, Peoples Gas offers a wide range of incentives for businesses that switch to natural gas. Homeowners, meanwhile, will benefit in many of the same ways when it comes to comfort, cooking, heating and more. Natural gas appliances make it easy to be efficient, and Peoples Gas offers residential rebates as well.

As part of the Green Cove Springs and Clay County project, Peoples Gas will install 13 miles of pipe, while SeaCoast will install nearly 10 miles.
